This summer my 15-year old nephew has introduced me to PS2 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City! I'm like a big kid playing this game. It is completely lecherous, you can steal an ambulance, blow up policemen, beat up prostitutes and take their money... I'm addicted to just spending the time going from building to building trying to find easter eggs. So far I've only found the ones that are given on the cheat sites. Also, it took me a while to get used to the controls, they're nothing like Sega or Atari! In exchange, I've given him the unique experience of discovering vinyl. This came about because he noted that I knew half of the songs on Vice City. So naturally I had to take out my 45's! It was an odd moment when I realized he didn't know where to place the needle on the record! How old I felt! We listened to Michael Jackson's Thriller album (don't laugh, because the stats says nearly 70% of US have two copies in our households!). He knows all the words to the songs, but never had the experience of playing them on a record. Yes, I confess to having the "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night" and "Self Control" 45's! I've also been speaking to him in Spanish on and off, because I don't want him to feel alienated when he meets other Puerto Rican kids and they speak both English and Spanish. His mother is a white Puerto Rican and she has no orgullo en ser puertorriquena(add tilde). For me, that is sad, because the culture is profound and filled with many amazing things, like good food, music, literature etc. Anyway, I'm not going to let mis sobrinos go out like that! Lucky for them their auntie Urs likes to study languages. If they had of been half Chinese, I would of had their backs too! They will have an excellent story to tell, when someone asks one of them who taught them Spanish, they will say our black aunt on our father's side forced us to learn it y ella lo habla mas mejor que nuestra madre! Y ahora me voy! Luego!
