I feel like doing one of those Sam Kinison screams. I've taken Systems Analysis (SDLC) and General Physics for this session. Both are driving me up the wall! Especially the systems analysis class. We are in the midst of a project and my head continues to swim. The project is a case study/mock project thingy. We are expanding a brick-and-mortar music store to include an online digital music store. I tend to like the programming aspect of comp sci, because in all essence, you receive a set of rules and keywords and you really don't have to think too much. With this system analysis stuff, you have to over-think, like ESP or sth. So I'm reading this horrible textbook that we had to pay for. At first I thought these guys were morons because they have titles like : Requirements and Things. However, upon greater inspection, I realized that they had no other choice but to use the word "things." Why? Well, the term object is being used exclusively throughout the sections regarding the object-oriented approach to systems development. Entity is also taken up. When people don't know anything better to use to describe an object/thing/entity, they usually go in the direction of mis-naming the object/thing/entity something like mechanism or process. Is our vocabulary so limited? Or is it just the vocabulary of the authors and myself that are limited? So Physics would be cool if it wasn't at 7:30 AM on Saturdays! I feel so brain dead during this class. I write everything the professor writes on the board and I attempt fruitlessly to actually understand what he is saying. I know it's me, because there was a time when I knew some of this stuff. So, I'm having another one of those "Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!" moments. Nothing is going right. Work used to be challenging, now it is becoming drudgery. The only real help for us is the fact that we have some music to listen to, but the woman that brings the radio insists on playing elevator music. This one cool guy brought in some good tunes and it made the night go by fast, but she was in a hurry to replace it with some slow, horrible obscure Prince tunes. There is a reason why these tunes are obscure... Duh! Damn I have to study now.
