Okily, so I'm going to fail Statistics because I missed two days and both had some quiz or test. I think I'll take the 15 week, because it contains a huge amount of information. Too huge for 8 weeks. I will never do another 7AM class. This may mean that it will take me longer to obtain my Associates, but it will mean that I will obtain it with better grades. =) Now I have this friggin' research paper to do, I can't even make up my mind which topic to do, here are our choices:
  • Comparing Windows XP, MacOS, and UNIX
  • Compare and contrast SunOS, HP/UX, and IBM’s AIX
  • SS7 (Signaling System 7)
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • 10G (Ethernet)
  • Linux vs. Windows
  • Open systems
  • Wireless networks
  • DSL (Digital subscriber line)
  • Cable modem
  • TCP/IP protocol in detail
  • DNS (domain named services)
  • Ipv6 (Internet Protocol version 6)
  • VPN (virtual private network)
  • Encryption
  • Comparing the Linux distributions
  • Open BSD
  • T1
  • SNA (systems network architecture)
  • ATM (asynchronous transfer mode)
  • RIP (routing information protocol)
  • OSPF (open shortest path first)
  • MPLS (multiprotocol label switching)
  • Frame relay
  • Packet switching
Another issue I suffer from is how to write a paper in my own words about things I have no clue about in the first place? Like say I choose that signaling system thinger. Putting it into my own words will just make my paper seem juvenile. Why not rent it from signaling system center? Hehe. That would be hilarious. Like how many ways can you define TCP/IP? TCP/IP is a network protocol suite. TCP/IP is a combination of different protocols at varying layers? TCP/IP is a 4-layered network protocol suite. [Sam Kinison] OW OWWWWWWWWWWWWW! [/Sam Kinison] I guess I'm going to stick with TCP/IP since I'm still working on my own research paper for it. Not like it ever stops 'growing' or changing. I'm still reviewing RFC's that I've read already. Today I did some major job-hunting. What makes absolutely no sense is:
Why should I fill out applications if I brought you my damn resume?
Job-hunting is a job. Only you don't get paid and all your resources get usurped without replenishment. All your potential employers seem to think that they are the only ones that you are seeking employment from. And what's with this sex and race thing a lot of these places are pulling? I've applied to several positions that had a little extra form to fill out asking for your sex and race. It has something to do with the government, but it still smells fishy. I've decided that if I don't get employment soon, I will push for some business loans and open up a 7-11 or something. Maybe a liquor store, I don't think those ever go out of business.
