To the great dismay of all you English majors, it is a fact and it is final that: People learn better when things are presented like a damn grocery list. Call it lazy? Call it saving time? How did I come about his realization? I have this need to try to learn everything there is to learn. I can't stand having to read through paragraphs just to define a term I don't understand. These terms are usually new terms that I cannot find in the dictionary, and they usually contain double or parallel (usually software related) meanings. This theory doesn't apply to reading for enjoyment. For instance, I don't mind reading a Stephen King ( he's very long-winded) novel. It's just that when I'm searching for information, I want that information fast. The following is not really one of the annoying ones, but it just so happens to be what I'm researching right now. Take a look at this definition of Knowledge Management that I found at the KM-Forum: Knowledge Management is the collection of processes that govern the creation, dissemination, and utilization of knowledge. In one form or another, knowledge management has been around for a very long time. Practitioners have included philosophers, priests, teachers, politicians, scribes, Liberians, etc. Now take a look at how I had to rescramble it to have it make sense:
Knowledge Management
  • Creation
  • Dissemination
  • Utilization
of knowledge. Granted you cannot get from version the fact that Knowledge Management is the collection of these processes, but you at least get something that doesn't leave you ignorant for a half a sentence. This is not to say that the guy's definition was somehow imperfect or wrong. It's to say that I have ADD and so do most other people. Too much information to be processed. Please give me concise version. Read Amy Tan's Mother Tongue. To see why: Chinese no speak English well no speak "broken" English, but are "Keeping It Sensibly Simple" because too much information to process = overload = burnout Just get straight to the point! Why is it that our media is aware of this but not my English 108 teacher who sent us to read:Learning Record Online? This is Part I of my search to define my true purpose on this planet. I've realized that I like to research and then organize data and then summarize it. Also I must really get the layout for this site back. Ciao 4 now!
