i'm having a very 80's moment. like does anyone remember Little House on the Prairie? i loved that show! one of my favorite episodes was the fool's gold one. another one sticks in my mind: it's about mary being kidnapped/molested or something weird like that. i keep remebering her glasses episode. she didn't want to wear her glasses so she hid them. everyone liked nelly the bitch for some reason. she got on my nerves, it was always about her and what she wanted. i have the music that came on at the end memorized for life. you know the one where its just a beautiful field and laura and whats-that-damn-dog's name are running through it. i always liked laura because she was the free spirit of the show, always causing some waves, but always for the good. i also miss that berlin song no more words. the video was pure genius: bonny & clyde theme. i wonder what has happened to terri nunn and the boys. was she the one that started all this hair color contrast stuff? i wonder. i used to stay up every friday to watch this video show called new york hot tracks ( or sth. like that) and the host would be this guy, i forgot his name, dejesus? anyway, he would be hosting the show from some wild club in the city ( peppermint lounge?) and i had to try hard to stay up until 11:30 or midnight. i would be determined, because i just knew he was gonna' play my favorite culture club or michael jackson video. i didn't have mtv ( nor cable), so if i didn't catch the video on hot tracks, then i was SOL until the next friday. yes, i said culture club. i still have my 33's to prove it.can you believe it? i still have records. some young person is probably going what-the-f!@# is a 33? 33's are albums, as opposed to 45's, which were the single cuts. i used to take my albums to school for show-and-tell. i remember bringing in a donna summer and culture club album in third grade. i had this cool teacher Mrs.Umansky and she would let me play one song. i think she felt sorry for me, because i was the only girl who had her period already. (yes, i got it at the age of 8!) isn't that the worse fate? ( just kidding) but i was and still am a tomboy. bright idea: i think i'm going to do a book on the first time women got their periods. i wonder if it has not been done already. anyway, i'm going through my albums ( what i could find) and i'm going to put up a list just for you:
    • culture club.kissing to be clever
    • culture club.waking up with the house on fire
    • sesame disco (with special guest star kermit the frog)
    • pat benatar.live from earth
    • cyndi lauper.she's so unsual
    • duran duran.seven and the ragged tiger*
    • duran duran.arena:recorded around the world 1984
*this is my all-time favorite duran2 album. i saved up some $7.25, in quarters(!), to buy it. guess where i bought... at our shop rite supermarket. i bet you forgot about those days when you used to be able to buy music at the shopping market. for those that have no clue what's the big deal, well i guess it's a ny/nj/pa thing. shop rite is a grocery store and it used to have a selection of ten hot albums by the week displayed in front of one of its aisles. oh i couldn't sleep for days before my mom finally took me there to buy it. *sigh* those were the days. good night/day/morning: and if no one told you they love you, i do.
