ranting on the Napster thing
My first response: How dare anyone tell me what to do with the contents on my hard drive?
Second, if Napster is only providing a way for us to connect and share the contents of our hard drives, then
on what premise does the justice system have for shutting it down?
The only thing they have against Napster is that it allows
only sharing of music files, to me, that's
not enough to shut them down.
Also, wouldn't that mean the shutting down of
ICQ and any other services that allow file sharing?
In fact, wouldn't that mean the shutting down of
the Internet?
I'm no law major, nor am I a student of logic, but something about this whole thing
smells fishy to me.
My third response is that I have gone out and bought
more CDs since I've downloaded Napster. There is nothing like cracking open a new CD and experiencing the art work and hopefully finding lyrics to the songs, etc. Napster has opened up a whole new world of music for me. I never would have become a
Prodigy (the group) fan if I hadn't of done a search one night
on Napster for music from the movie Matrix. Weird as that may sound, but its absolutely true.
Another thing: Some artists do
not deserve to have someone buy their entire CD. Making one good song and then slapping together some
shit does not make a CD. I hate buying a CD and there is only one good song on the whole damn thing.
